Grade I smock mill of 1814 on The Hill, Cranbrook, run by volunteers. Free entry on summer open days from April; closed for the winter.
Union Mill is a Grade I listed smock mill built in 1814 and kept in working order by the Cranbrook Windmill Association, a volunteer charity. Teas are served on some open days. A ground-level exhibition space and audio-visual room in an adjacent building are accessible. There is no car parking on site, but there is a public car park and street parking nearby.
The mill is owned by Kent County Council, which has said it plans to sell its eight windmills. The association says bids will be compared after 13 November, so ownership and opening arrangements may change.
The mill is a Grade I listed building with steep, narrow stairs, so disabled access is extremely limited. A ground-level exhibition space and audio-visual room in an adjacent building are accessible.
