Free council museum in the Carnegie library building by Central Park, telling Dartford's story from the Stone Age to Kerr's draper's shop.
Dartford Borough Museum shares the grade II listed Carnegie library building at the entrance to Central Park. Its displays follow the borough’s story through archaeology and social history: Stone Age finds from Barnfield Pit at Swanscombe (with a cast of the 400,000-year-old Swanscombe Skull), Bronze Age and Roman material, Anglo-Saxon jewellery from Riseley, a model of Holy Trinity Church, a reconstruction of Kerr’s draper’s shop with its overhead cash railway, and a display on the Dartford Warbler. The museum is small but packed, and offers object identification and school visits.
