Lydd Town Museum is housed in the town’s old fire station on Queens Road, just off The Rype, and is free to enter, with donations welcome. A visitor guide on Wheels of Time describes five display rooms of exhibits and artefacts from Lydd, Dungeness and Romney Marsh, including a restored horse-drawn Merryweather fire engine. The museum’s own website says it opens from 2.30pm to 5pm on the first Sunday of each month from March to November, on Easter to August bank holiday weekends, on Lydd Club Day and at weekends in the school summer holidays. It is closed from December to the end of February.
