Miniature steam and diesel railway running 13.5 miles from Hythe to Dungeness, with a Model Railway Exhibition at New Romney. Romney Rover £30 adult.
The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is a 13.5-mile miniature railway between Hythe and Dungeness, with its main station and Model Railway Exhibition at New Romney. Trains run to colour-coded seasonal timetables on selected days, so check the timetable for your date; the railway ran its Yellow timetable from 19 to 30 October 2026 because of a technical issue with a diesel engine. Online you can buy a Romney Rover day ticket (hop on, hop off) at £30.00 for adults and £20.00 for children aged 3 to 17; station-to-station fares are bought at stations on the day. The Model Railway Exhibition costs £4 adult, £2.50 child (free with a Rover ticket), and the railway warns it may be closed on some days, so call first. Santa Specials run from 28 November to 24 December (see the separate event listing).
Coaches adapted for wheelchairs, with ramps and space for helpers, run on any train by prior arrangement; wheelchair toilets at Hythe, Dymchurch, New Romney and Dungeness stations. The Model Railway Exhibition has a stair lift. Carers go free with a fare-paying passenger on production of proof.
