Windmill Hill

Windmill Hill is an area of Gravesend, in the Gravesham district. The hill was developed as a pleasure ground by the Windmill Hill Pleasure Ground Company around 1840, around a windmill that was gone by 1900. Windmill Hill Gardens opened in 1902 at the foot of the hill, opposite Clarence Place, and a memorial garden remembers the losses of two world wars. The hilltop has a historic beacon.
