Westbrook is a seaside area at the western end of Margate, in the Thanet district. Visit Thanet describes Westbrook Bay as a sandy family beach on Royal Esplanade. The former Royal Sea Bathing Hospital on Canterbury Road is Grade II listed, and its listing says it was founded in 1791 for poor Londoners with scrofula and became a pioneer of open-air treatment for tuberculosis patients.
