St Augustine’s Abbey

Ruined Anglo-Saxon abbey founded in AD 598, with a museum, on the edge of Canterbury's World Heritage Site. English Heritage.

About St Augustine’s Abbey

English Heritage site on Longport, east of the city centre, part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site. Opening is 10am to 4pm daily with last entry at 3.30pm, with a later 11am start on Sunday 8 November. English Heritage’s access page says most of the site is wheelchair accessible, with no ramps or lifts, steps down to the crypt and cloister, uneven ground in places and a wheelchair loan service. The online ticket page showed no price when checked, so none is given here; online booking saves 15% if made by midnight the day before.

Accessibility

Most of the site is wheelchair accessible, but there are no ramps or lifts and steps lead down to the crypt and cloister. Accessible toilets and a wheelchair loan service are available. Call the site for more information.
