The Shell Grotto is an underground passage and chamber covered in millions of shells set in mosaic patterns. Its own site lists its origins as a mystery and says debate about them has raged ever since it came to light. Open Thursday to Sunday through the winter, with a daily opening over October half term.
Accessibility
Two sets of stairs; the floor is uneven in places with a slight camber. No step-free access, and not suitable for wheelchairs, walking frames or those with reduced mobility. The shop also has no step-free access, but staff are happy to assist. No pets except registered assistance dogs.
