About Paddle Steamer Medway Queen
Medway Queen is a paddle steamer launched in 1924. The society that looks after her says she made seven round trips to Dunkirk in 1940, and National Historic Ships UK says she rescued about 7,000 men. She is berthed at Gillingham Pier, where visitors browse the visitor centre and then take a guided tour on board. Free parking on site; tea and coffee are served on board and there is a book and souvenir shop. Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.
Accessibility
The society says the ship has a ramp suitable for disabled access and a stair lift to the lower deck, with a wheelchair and walker frame available on board.
